this isn�t the separate thing i mentioned i�d write about later. this was inspired by checking out idiot-milk�s diary. a link is there to one of my all time favorite websites: engrish.com.
Ya see, back in �89-90, the Loved One (aka my old man) spent a year in Japan teaching English at a small private girls� school in northern Honshu. i went over twice, and between the two visits i racked up about a month or so of experience living in Japan. anyway, they love the English language. they just like the way it looks, apparently, because most of them can�t speak for shit. well, one day i got on a train to go somewhere (yeah! trains! they take you to the next town! the US needs them more than anyplace, but noooooooooo! another rant for another day.) so i got on this train and school was let out and the train got flooded with kids. one near me was wearing a backpack with the words �kicky jaw bone�. i�d seen a lot of stupid, non-sensical English in japan, but for some reason this got me laughing so hard (remember, i was alone that day) i nearly pissed myself. they though i was weird. then again, japan is really xenophobic. Japanese people are �nihon-jin�. anyone else is �gai-jin. in northern japan there are very few gai-jin. in fact, in the province that the LO was living, no exaggeration, i believe there were 8 resident gai-jin.
a couple years ago i stumbled upon the aforelinked website. it�s a collection of bizarre English from around the world, but mostly japan. it�s hysterical.
